HADITH NO 9: Allah Taala takes pride in the groups of Muslim engaged in Remembrance of Him
Once Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) went to a group of Sahaba, (Radhiallaho anhum) and said to them, "What for are you sitting her?" they replied, "We are engaged in the Zikr of Almighty Allah, and are glorifying Him for His extreme kindness to us in that he has blessed us with the wealth of ISLAM"

Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said, "By Allah, Are you here only for this reason? " "By Allah! Replied the Sahaba, (Radiallaho anhom) ; "We are sitting her only for this reason." Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) then said, "I asked you to swear not out of any misunderstanding, but because Jibrail (Alayhis salam) came to me and informed me just now that Almighty Allah was speaking high about youbefore angels."

Note: Inquiry of oath by the Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) was simply to ascertain whether there was any other special thing, besides Zikr, which might be the cause of Allah's pride. It became definite that it was only because of the zikr of Almgihty Allah that He was proud of them. How lucky were those people whose worship was accepted, and the news of Allah's recognition of the Zikr on their part was revealed to them in this very earthly life through Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam).

HADITH NO 10 The angels' announcement of reward for those gathered together for Zikr of Allah
Anas (Radhiallaho anho) reported that Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) had said, "When some people assemble for the Zikr of Allah with the sole purpose of earning His pleasure, an angel proclaims from the sky, "You people have been forgiven, your sins have been replaced by virtues."

Hadith No 13
Rasulullah (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said. "When you pass the gardens of Paradise. graze to your heart's content." Someone asked. "O Rasulullah! (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam). what is meant by the gardens of Paradise?" He replied. "Gatherings for performing zikr. "

What is meant is that if somebody is lucky enough to get access to such gatherings. he should take full advantage of this. as these are the gardens of Paradise on this Earth.

One day after Fajr when a big congregation of in this effort [of Dawah & Tabligh]   actively part-taking gathered in Nizamuddin’s Masjid and Hadhrat Maulana [Muhammad Ilyas Kandhalvi]‘s health was so weak, that laying on bed he could not even utter three four words in  an audible voice, he demanded a special servant through who he conducted the whole congregation:

“All your Tabligh activities will be of no avail if, along with them, you do not pay proper attention to Ilm (knowledge) and Dhikr (remembrance of Allah). Ilm and Dhikr are the two wings without which one cannot fly in these surroundings. What is more, if Ilm and Dhikr are neglected, this endeavour may become a new source of mischief. Without Ilm, Islam and Iman are a mere formality, and without Dhikr, Ilm is darkness. Effluence is produced in Ilm by Dhikr and the real fruits of Dhikr are gained only when Ilm, too, is there. The Devil often makes the ignorant sufis his tools. The importance of Ilm and Dhikr should therefore, not be overlooked in this regard otherwise the Tablighi endeavour will end up in waywardness, and, Allah forbid, you will be in great loss.”

Hadhrat Maulana’s meaning of this guidance was that the ones working on this path should not understand the effort and struggles, the journey and migrations and the offering and sacrifices in line of Tabligh-o-Dawat as the essential work like nowadays it has become common. Instead learning and teaching of Deen and bringing the habit of Allah’s remembrance and understanding the building of a connection with these as one’s important obligation. In other words they should not become only “Sipahi” [Soldier] or Muballigh [Propagator] instead seekers of Deen’s knowledge and Allah-remembering servants, too.

Do not abandon Thikr on account of lack of concentration. Abandoning Thikr is worse than lack of concentration while making Thikr. It is not farfetched (to say) that Allah Ta'ala may develop your Thikr-e-Ghaflat (Thikr devoid of concentration) to Thikr-e-Bedaari (Thikr with alertness) and your Thikr-e-Bedaari to Thikr-e-Hudhoori (Thikr in the Divine Presence) and from this Thikr to that (most lofty state of) Thikr in which everything besides Mathkoor-e- Haqeeqi (Allah Ta'ala – The True Object of Remembrance), is annihilated. Nothing is difficult for Allah Ta'ala.

Many Thaakireen (those involved in Thikr) complain of lack of concentration in their Thikr and the incidence of waswasah (stray thoughts). Some even abandon Thikr on this account. The Shaikh (rahmatullah alayh) advising such persons, says that the Thaakir should not abandon Thikr because of lack of concentration. The lack of concentration is only one calamity. But at least the existence of Thikr is with the Thaakir even though it is accompanied by ghaflat. But in the event of abandoning Thikr, it will not be simply Thikr without concentration, but the loss of Thikr itself. This state of having abandoned Thikr is, therefore, extremely grave. Thikr even with ghaflat is far superior than the abandonment of Thikr.

The Holy Prophet (sallallaho alaihe wasallam) said, "Those who are admitted into paradise will not regret over anything of this world, except the time spent without Zikr in their life."

Note: After their entry into Paradise, when they will see the huge reward (as large as mountains) for

remembering Allah once, they will feel extremely sorry over their loss caused by the time spent without Zikr, as can b e well imagined. In this world, there are such blessed persons who would not relish this life if it were spent without the Zikr of Allah.

Hafiz Ibn-e-Hajar writes in his book 'Manabbihat' that Yahya Bin Ma'az Razi (Rahmatullah alaih) used to say in his supplication:(O Allah! The night is no good unless spent in communion with You, the day is no good unless spent in worshipping You, this life is no good without Your Zikr, the next life will be no good without forgiveness from You, and paradise will not be enjoyable without beholding You).

Hazrat Sirri (Rahmatullah alaihe) says, "I saw Jurjanee swallowing roasted barley flour. He told me that he had compared the time taken in chewing bread and in eating barley flour; eating bread took so much longer than he could say (subhana Allah) seventy times in that time. Therefore, he had not taken bread for forty years, and had lived by swallowing barley flour alone."

It is said about Mansur-bin-Motamar that he never spoke to anybody after Isha prayers for forty years.

Similarly, it is said about Rabi-bin-Haseem that it was his practice for twenty years that he noted down what he talked during the day, and would check at night whether that talking was necessary or not. Those pious scholars were particular that every moment of their life was spent in Zikr and in nothing else.

What can you do?

It is essential to start introducing mamools (devotional practices) in your life. A mamool should be one that is diligently carried out daily and never left our. Hazrat Sheikh (rahmatullah alayhi) used to say that punctuality in your mamools is the stepping stone to success.

For starters, you should make it a habit to recite Tasbih-e-Fathimi daily after EVERY salaat. Do not be hasty in rushing out of the musjid as if someone is dishing our free mithai (sweetmeats). When you are steadfast in this for a few months consult your sheikh as to the next step.
